Hitwave Alison- Vol 5

19/10/2013 by Alison Asher 4 Comments

HIts of the week:

1.  Blood donors. “Bloody” legends.  And lifesavers.  Our life is completely different this end of the week, with Coco all topped up with the claret.  Can’t thank all those anonymous donors enough.  Call 13 14 95 to find your nearest donation spot.

2.  The music therapy lady at Nambour Hospital.  I’ve got be honest, although my face was saying “Oh yes, music therapy whilst my screaming child gets treated like a pincushion, what an smashing idea”, my head was saying, “FFS you crazy bloody hippy, piss off and leave us to our misery and our work you friggin’ lunatic.”   Turns out, she was right and (gulp) I was wrong.  The music did help.  Go figure.

3.  Oh hello coffee delivery, yes please.

Coffee

4.  And to go with said coffee, check out this mug.  I have no idea what or why this was invented, but who wouldn’t want one?

Toilet mug

For the person who gives you the shits?

5.  These new shoes.  I know, I know, they’re bloody ugly, but in my other life I have a real job (No I’m not a highly successful and award winning author- who knew?) where I spend the whole day on my feet.  This week I finally chucked my old pair, and got these babies.  Just like going home.  Thanks Get Set Footwear on Gympie Terrace… (Tell ’em I sent you, they’ll give you a good deal.)

Birkis

And a late entry… After my anti-bird rant, this popped up in my Instagram feed. Oh Jamie, I already love you, and then you wear this.  Not sure if its a turkey or a giant penis, but I like that you don’t look impressed. #birdssuck

Jamie Oliver

What are you loving this week?

And what do you think of Hitwave Alison?  Should I also be including my top 5 shits?

Hitwave Alison, Volume 4

Here it is, the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the hits of the week:

1.  My new stubby holder.  I don’t mind a cleansing ale on the odd occasion, but I do NOT like drinking them nude.  This baby has everything I want in a stubby holder: pretty colour: check, skinny, so it can fit in a Corona without slipping out: check, some kind of advertising from some shit tourist attraction: check, and most of all, it has my name on it.  The line “This drink has my name on it” will be trotted out for years to come.  My Friend said it has Nathan’s name on it too, but I’m ignoring that joke.  I won’t be out-joked when it comes to my drinking accessories.

Stubby holder 2. And whilst we are on the subject of beer, I think “My Wife’s Bitter” deserves a mention. Delicious, and yes, another hilarious joke name.  If Nathan had’ve purchased it, the “Cats of Australia” might have come out, but seeing as I did, it was funny.  And mine.

A perfect accompaniment to our lazy Tuesday dinner of beef burritos (no beans) from Taco Boy at Noosa Junction. Mmmmmm.

3.  Okay, so it appears there is an alcohol theme going on here, I blame Friday night and being forced to watch Better Homes and Gardens whilst I wait for my dinner to be delivered to the table.  But check OUT this Cosmo.  Served up to me sitting on the deck at Angourie Rainforest Retreat after a gruelling week.  What more could a lady such as myself want?

Cosmo

4.  Tim.  I don’t know why, but this bugger Tim just makes me laugh.

Tim

5.  Home.  Glad to be back.

Do you go all “Cats of Australia” if your husband shits you?

“The Cats of Australia have made their choice.. Snappy Tom, Snappy To-om”

PS And WHAT ABOUT the movie Jaws 2?  It’s on the telly right now, and my GOD that shark is relentless. Kids are copping it all over the place.  I may never swim in the open water again.

Hitwave Alison, Volume 3

09/10/2013 by Alison Asher 2 Comments

It’s been a weird week around these parts.  Some highs and some lows, so Hitwave Alison this week will also be Shitwave Alison.  My Five Hits and Five Shits.

It’s coming to you late because: no wifi worth speaking of on the open road..

The Hits:

1.  This guy.  He’s changing the tyre.  I’m drinking a beer.  And he still doesn’t get cut.

Changing the tyre

How can you smile at that Nathan? Are you a bit mental?

2.  Then he invented this:

Life-changing invention

Life-changing invention

The Ashers have boiled eggs for brekky every.single.day.  And sometimes if we are travelling we don’t have egg cups.  Which is a pain.  A first world problem of course, but still….

3.  The Chifley Apartments in Newcastle .  It was always going to be a crappy few days, but this place helped a bit.  You could do worse than stay there if you ever go to Newcastle.  Close to the Wharf area, Urban Views of pigeons, all in rows, and the way the morning sun caught the old cream coloured building across the way reminded me that the sun will rise again.  And then again.

 Newcastle Buildings

4.  The Big 4 caravan park in Bonny Hills.  If the name makes you sing “We’re goin’ to Bonny Doon” you probably wouldn’t be far wrong, but this place was amazing for the kids.  Hence it was amazing for the adults.  It has a jumping pillow, no less.  And, wait for it, a water play park thingy…. WHAT THE ACTUAL??  Apparently this is a thing at Big 4 parks.  Where have you been all my life Big 4?

5.  This kid.  Look at those lil hands.  Doing jigsaw puzzles and then making them into discos for Sylvanians.  Getting dragged half-way down the East coast for a funeral, when you really needed to be going in for your transfusion.  And saying to your Mum, “Don’t worry, I can wait until next week, we need to say Goodbye to Aunty Hayley, and play with Olive.”

 Puzzle

And this kid.  Playing quietly by himself on his computer most of the morning on funeral day, making the most hilarious and clever video.  It made us laugh and laugh, on a day that sorely needed laughs.

The Mandog Show

The Mandog Show

The Shits:

1.  This:

blister

Okay, okay I know it’s just a blister, but it really smarts.

2.  This crap:

Why have they trade-marked it???

Dear Hotels,

This is not coffee, nor is it proper or recommended to serve to your patrons for the duration of their stay.

They do not appreciate it.

Thank you,

All Humans

3.  Fun times in this traffic on the way home…

 Traffic

4. Especially when the temperature is this:

Temperature

5.  I don’t really have a 5th.  But that doesn’t seem right for a whinger like myself, so give me a minute, I’ll think of something I’m sure…

Oh yeah, here it is:

Broken ipod

Bloody Apple.  Why don’t you make your stuff out of something that doesn’t bloody well smash?  We all know you can, you know you can, so just do it already.  The iRepair guy is making a fortune out of me.

How was your week?

What are your Hits and Shits?

PS Sorry some of the pics are side-on. They won’t flip for some reason…. Another Shit?

PPS This is not a sponsored post.. Unfortunately. The last Shit..?

Hitwave Alison Vol 2

Well.

It’s been quite a week around these parts.  Not the week I would ever have hoped for, but a week none-the-less.

Here’s my top five for the week:

1.  These lips.  Delivered with a cuddle from Sprinkles.  What a lovely thing to do.  Some people just have such big hearts.

Thanks Clare

Thanks Clare

2.  This wine.  QANTAS, you really are the best airline.  Teensy bottles of wine just when you need it most?  Yes please.

Entirely tolerable (and free) medicinal wine

Entirely tolerable (and free) medicinal wine

3.  This family.  Some days are just gold with you lot.

Bike family

They might be wearing nerdy helmets, but I love their guts.

4.  All my beautiful patients, who helped me through this week, with kind words and even kinder hearts.  I appreciate all the words of wisdom and care, and thank my teenage self for choosing such an wonderful career path- one that allows me to share so much of my life with loving and positive people.  I’m supposed to be helping them, yet they helped me.  What a gift.

5.  This chick.  I have no idea how the bits of my heart will ever feel whole again.

I’m so bloody lucky to have had her in my life.   What a smile.  What a laugh.

Hayls and I

Love ya Hayls

How was your week?

Gimme some of your Top Hits.. I could use a laugh.

Hitwave Alison, vol 1

21/09/2013 by Alison Asher 3 Comments

Welcome to Hitwave Alison, my Top 5 for the week.

1.  Bistro C on Hastings Street.  The 9year old chose it for his birthday breakfast, because “It’s the best restaurant in the world Mum.”  It’s also the best location, sitting right on Noosa Beach.  So close you almost have sand between your toes.  Fab food and Fab views.  And cheeky waiters apologising for the view.  This view:

The view from Bistro C… Hard to beat

The view from Bistro C… Hard to beat. The waiters are dickheads

2.  These shoes, from Country Road.  I just love a summery sandal.  Things are hotting up around these parts, but the legs aren’t ready to be out in public just yet, so these sandals are just the thing.

Don't look at the legs

Don’t look at the legs

3.  The weather this week.  Soooo good here these last few days.  I feel so lucky to live in such an amazing place, with such perfect Spring days.  We even had dolphins hanging around Main Beach this morning.  (In the water- not sitting at Sails or something.)

4.  All the kids in Liam’s class singing Happy Birthday to him.  Still so cute.  And how they then descended on me and my Zooper Dooper supply in lieu of cupcakes  (I canNOT bake cupcakes). Luckily I had scissors to fend them off.

5.  My Mum for buying a big box of Cadbury Favourites for The Kid as part of The Festival of Liam.  I’ve been siphoning those babies off nightly.  He has no clue.  I love being the boss of the house.  I don’t care if you think I’m a bogan Hayley, I bloody love ’em.

Have a great weekend y’all

What’s your Top 5?
